The Archive is renowned for its pioneering efforts to rescue, preserve and showcase moving image media. It is dedicated to ensuring that film history is explored and enjoyed for generations to come.

We are proud to announce that the "L.A. Rebellion: Creating a New Black Cinema" Tour will continue in 2013 with three upcoming stops in Philadelphia, Toronto, and New York City. It is a great honor to have International House Philadelphia, TIFF Cinematheque, and the Museum of the Moving Image take on such an ambitious series and we are excited that new audiences will be able to discover these groundbreaking works. TIFF and the Museum of the Moving Image's screenings also coincide with Black History Month and we can think of no better way to celebrate than by exploring the creative legacy of these pioneering African American filmmakers.

The tour features 36 representative titles, many presented on new prints and restorations. Both prominent and rarely-screened works by directors such as Charles Burnett, Billy Woodberry, Julie Dash, Larry Clark, Ben Caldwell, and Haile Gerima are included.

Indiewire's "Shadow and Act" Blog recently posted about the upcoming tour dates and, having previously covered the initial Los Angeles screenings, will be posting additional content and reviews as the tour continues. We encourage you to check it out here

Additional dates and locations to be announced!
